Kate Spade New York’s largest UK branch, on London’s Regent Street, has opened with design by architect Househam Henderson and shopfitting by Portview Fit-Out. The store features bespoke cabinetry designed by American Millwork and Cabinetry.
The 600 sq m store spans two floors. Unlike the rest of the lifestyle brand’s London stores it features the entire available product range under one roof. The brand’s own furniture is used to dress the store.
The interior reflects the building’s heritage as a home, with quirky elements such as hand-painted floor-to-ceiling stripes on curved walls surrounding the staircase giving an informal feel.
The staircase was fitted as part of the project, requiring a large section of the first floor to be removed. It has been built from steel, with walnut treads and handrail. Local influences are seen in black cabs and red double decker buses displayed on shelves.
